Chestnut Morgan stallion customized from the Breyer Grazing Mare. Created in 1977. Chris describes this piece: I get a lot of eMail from a lot of beginners who tell me that they think they will never learn how to paint as well as I do. Well, I was a beginner once myself and recently, I purchased one of my OLD pieces, just to show everyone what my work looked like when I was just getting started. (Trust me - most people paint better than this in their first year!) I had been painting models for TEN YEARS at the time I painted this one! Please note the lack of any shading or highlights, the ROUGH texture and what's with those eyes??? I also painted her in vertical lines (top to bottom instead of following any sense of hair growth direction), and you can see through the paint *everywhere* on the body. To top it all off, I think the oil paint I used was straight out of the tube!

Bon Voyage
Bay Morgan stallion customized from the Breyer Huckleberry Bey; created 2009. In progress photos below. Chris describes this piece: He has had his neck straightened and sports an original (tack-friendly), hand-sculpted mane and flowing tail that would easily accommodate a crupper. This guy should be as awesome in Performance showing (under saddle or in harness) as he should be in Halter Classes! He is painted a brilliant bright bay with dappling on both sides of his barrel topped off with 4 socks and an interesting blaze that extends over the right side of his muzzle. He has a sweet expression and looks like he would be a LOT of fun to ride - that's how I came up with the name: "Bon Voyage".
