Bay Overo with lots of cat tracks Paint mare, customized from the Carol Williams Victrix resin; created 2009 for owner Sandy Lyles. Chris describes this piece: Sandy Lyles LOVES "cat tracks" within the white markings on her pinto horses, so I always include them for her. Well, this time, she says "I want Lots and LOTS of them" and she included a link to a sport horse that had zillions of them. So, I took on the challenge and while I didn't do a *portrait* of that horse, I did something pretty similar to it. I have been working on it for TWO WEEKS and I must tell everyone that I will NOT be doing another one like this! Now, in order to fully appreciate the "pain and torture" I went through. You have to know that I painted the white markings AROUND all of those dark spots. It's the **hard way** to do it, but that is why they LOOK like they are really part of the coat, not just added on. (There are some teeny "flea-bite" type spots that are added on, but those are supposed to be like that.)
Big Deal
Black Bay Overo Paint Gelding, customized from the Breyer Chick O Leana; created 2010. Chris describes this piece: He is a simple CM in a brown (black-bay) overo. His body color is all done in oils and intricate spotting pattern if fully mapped (simple mapping) and is VERY eyecatching. An in progress photo is below.
