Belgian in red brown decorator
Known as "Cai Lun", QVC SR 2002. Image provided by Breyer. 2002 was the Chinese Year of the Horse and Breyer did two unusual decorators to celebrate. Both were designed by Kim Jipson. This is Cai Lun (which means horse in Chinese and if you look closely, you'll see the symbol appears in the tails of the intertwined koi. The horse is a glossy brownish maroon color reminiscent of lacquer with dull, gold hooves and a resist pattern of two koi - a powerful and positive symbol in Chinese culture. Cai Lun was a Special Run designed for QVC. The mold is #92, sculpted by Christian Hess. It was first released in 1964.
