atherine DeMott started collecting models, mostly Breyers, at around age 6, got out of collecting while she was at college, then got back into collecting in 1991. She didn't start showing and customizing until 1994.
In her customizing, Catherine generally uses sculpy and Gapoxio moldable epoxy. Painting is done by hand with acrylics, with some touchup and dappling done with colored pencil. Favorite molds are the Breyer Classic Arab Stallion and Mare, and the 5-Gaiter; favorite breeds include the Arabian, Andalusian, and Saddlebred. Catherine is starting to do fantasy pieces, such as hippocampuses (seahorses) and piscihippuses (what she does with the rear of the horse used for a seahorse).
As far as the non-Breyer portion of her life, Catherine is a small-animal veterinarian with a very patient husband and two cats. She is also a member of the Society for Creative Anachronism (SCA), and if that weren't enough, she also writes and records her own songs, which she can be found singing at various SCA events and SciFi conventions.
