arilyn Fowler is kinda new to the hobby , but not to the love of horses. She grew up in Southern Arizona in a small town called Sierra Vista, and lived there for 18 years. Growing up in a western town was all about horses. Marilyn started riding when she was 11. She worked at a Riding Stables called the Buffalo Carrels. It was for the soldiers who lived on the base called Fort Hauchuca. Marilyn helped prepare the horses for the days daily rides. It was here that she learned to ride, basic Horsemanship and care of the equine.
At 13 her parents bought Marilyn an Arabian mare, that she rode in Gymkhanas and trail riding. At 14 she got in to Rodeos; her next horse was a QH, and she rode him in Junior, and Open Rodeos through out Arizona. From the Rodeos came the AQHA shows. She worked on a ranch when she was 18, here they showed AQHA Foals and Yearlings.
One of my favorite things to do growing up was to save up for a new Breyer. Marilyn can recall when they were $4.00. She would make barns and arenas and have Rodeos and shows with them. Marilyn met Carol Howard when she was 13. Carol made the model horse tack for Marilyn.
But time went by and Marilyn married and had children. She taught Pre-K and Special needs children for 15 years. When her children were grown and she was at home alone, Marilyn realized she missed the horses, so bought herself two horses. "Philly" QH Mare and "Rose" a paint mare; pictured above right.
In 2005 at BreyerFest that she saw her first Live show. Marilyn was Hooked, and knew this was what she wanted to do. So she prepared my self for the live shows. Customizing her own horses and making her own tack. Along with the props and her knowledge of real equine competition Marilyn was on a new Journey. She wanted to make tack and dolls to sell, but knew that they would have to be show proven before she would offer them for sale. So for 4 years Marilyn showed in as many shows as she could. After winning mulitple Championships she felt confident that the tack and dolls were ready to be shown by others.
As an Artist her goal is to make Authentic Top quality Western Tack and Dolls. When her Customers say, "WOW!" or it is "Perfect", that is rewarding to her and she knows that her time and hard work is worth it all!!
