Iced Tea Competition. This is a competition between
multiple teams, each of which consists of one horse and two partners
(only one is mounted during the contest). The equine must walk
to a nearby post and stand while the rider picks up a glass of
iced tea sitting on top of it. Balancing the glass, the rider
and horse must walk back to the starting line, trying not to spill
any liquid. The rider dismounts, pours the tea into the team bucket;
the other partner then mounts up and rides to the second of four
posts, each 100 feet apart, and tries to repeat the maneuver.
The team which has the most tea in their bucket after all four
glasses have been retrieved is the winner. Bridle and photo by
Erica Bonami.
