Kathleen Moody on her involvement with the Safari company, October 2008: I did a wander through a Hobby Bench store yesterday and dug through all the new (and old) Safari animals- wow-! The new horses and other animals are great (most of them anyway) and look like Jane Lunger's work. I suspect this to be so as the last time Safari contacted me I gave them Jane's name and contact info so I wouldn't be surprized if the new horses are hers. As for the zebra, my guess would be it was someone way before Jane but not Kitty [Cantrell] as Kitty was working for Legend at the time. The fact that it looks so much like her work is not unusal as often artists "borrow" other artists' poses all the time if they are unfamilar with a particular animal. It might be the work of Forrest Rogers, she did all the dinosaurs. Her work is wonderful but not so much in the horse area. I honestly don't know who did the zebra. And no, the zebra baby is not mine- it is too cute. When I worked for them, I was under such confining restrictions and time limits that my animals came out really awful. I am embarrassed to even admit I did them- then again that was a long time ago- I have repented and moved on.
