Ucagco stands for "United China and Glass Company" and though this company's models were made in Japan, its offices were based in New Orleans and New York. Ucagco was primarily a distributor of dinnerware and glassware. The Early Provincial line--many refer to it as Rooster and Rose--came in an unbelievable number of pieces and shapes. There are full-page advertisements in issues of the Pottery and Glass Journal from the 1950s that show hundreds of different items. Pieces from Ucagco used to be very inexpensive--as early as five years ago--but as of late are becoming prohibitively expensive. It is believed that Ucagco is now out of business.(This information was provided by Jim Schulte via Russ Baker)
Ucagco horse figurines come in matt or glossy finishes, and have a special character about them that I find very attractive! These models sport a foil sticker which have the letters "U," "C," and "G" overlaid on top of each other.
