| BF | Breyer Fest | Annual trade fair/community gathering of model horse enthusiasts nominally held the last weekend in July in Kentucky by Breyer. |
| CAF | Classic Arabian Foal | Popular OF mold released by Breyer |
| CAM | Classic Arabian Mare | Popular OF mold released by Breyer |
| CAS | Classic Arabian Stallion | Popular OF mold released by Breyer |
| CG | Custom glazed | One of a kind glazed bisque china finish. |
| CH | China | Show finish division. Usually includes porcelain, ceramic, earthenware factory finish pieces, e.g., Hagen-Renaker, Pour Horse, Loza. Some shows also include factory finish resin pieces, e.g., American Artists, Border Fine Arts. |
| CM | Customized | Show finish division. Usualy refers to the non-factory finish (modified in some way) of mass manufactured pieces (as opposed to limited reproduction pieces), as opposed to an original sculpture.
Also refers to the modified horse. |
| CR | China/Resin | Show finish division. See China. Explicitly includes factory finish resins. |
| DCM | Drastic Customized | Show finish division, a subset of Customized. Usually multiple "parts" modified, sometimes to the point that the original pices it sta rted from is not recognizable. Show holders often have their own definiton used at their show which may differ from what another show uses. |

| NAMHSA | North American Model Horse Shows Association | Organization that helps promote live model horse showing and holds the North American Nationals annually. |
| NAN | North American Nationals | Annual show held by NAMHSA. |
| NIB | New in box | Model is in original box, usually a plastic model in a display box. |
| NQ | NAN Qualified | An entry that has placed first or second at a NAMHSA member show (in designated classes) and is therefore eligible to show at NAN. |
| OOAK | One of a kind | Test Runs, or other factory finish "one of a kind"s, either plastic, china or resin. |
| OF | Original Finish | Otherwise known as factory finish. |
| OS | Original Sculpture | Original sculpture, often from clay or other material. Often the item that is molded and reproduced as artist resins. |
| PAF | Proud Arabian Foal | Popular OF mold released by Breyer |
| PAM | Proud Arabian Mare | Popular OF mold released by Breyer |
| PAS | Proud Arabian Stallion | Popular OF mold released by Breyer |
| PL | Plastic | Show finish division. Original finish mass produced plastic, e.g., Breyer, Peter Stone. |
