Armstrong's
River of Promise
Liver chestnut Morgan stallion customized from the
Eustis Morgan
Francis Eustis is among my favorite artists so it was a great
honor to get this beautiful sculpture from him. Unfortunately,
his original color didn't reflect the color I had in my mind's
eye, so I painstakingly stripped the old oil-based coat down to
the resincast base and repainted him in acrylics to a bronze-like
liver chestnut with red highlights. Live shown only once in a
Sarah Minkiewicz Customizer's Challenge Class, he took third out
of about 20 horses, and Sarah said that had I corrected his conformational
flaws, he would have took the class hands down!

Harlem Shuffle
Dapple palomino Morgan stallion customized from the
Breyer Stablemate Morgan Stallion and owned by Kara Klynn
Wow, here's an oldie! Another one of my 1989 pieces, Harlem was
my first palomino! At that time, it was nearly unknown within
hobby circles that Morgans occurred in other colors besides bay,
black, and chestnut, so it was extra fun showing Harlem, knowing
that palominos in Morgans does occur!

Created about 1990, he was the nicest Morgan I'd done until I
did River of Promise. His color came out especially rich, though
it doesn't show very well in his photos. I really like this mold
and would love to do others in the future to see how much better
they might come out with my new skills in resculpting and customizing.
