When her parents divorced in 1999, Jennifer and her mother needed to sell their beloved horses. Finding herself with three Arabian Native costumes she may never use again and a mound of bills from a new home and move, Jennifer decided to sell the costumes on Ebay. As a new user to Ebay, Jennifer was dazed and amazed at the little Breyer Arabian costumes she found in her searches. Never knowing such a nifty hobby even existed, Jennifer decided she could make those costumes too! She sold her very first costume on Ebay in November of 1999 for $65.00. She used the costume making to fill the holes left in her life from the abscense of the horses. By early 2001, she found her costumes were NAN Qualifying and that people were willing to spend over a hundred dollars for one. It wasn't long before the hobby became a business.
Since 2001, with the first few NAN cards rolling in, Jennifer's costumes have now earned in excess of 100 NAN Qualifications and countless ribbons and placings. Her costumes never made it to NAN 2002, and with NAN 2003 cancelled, Jennifer's work was not shown at NAN until 2004. It was quite a debut; they brought in 5 National Top Tens, including Grand Champion in BOTH the OF and CM/Resin Arabian Costume divisions.
With the arrival of two Arabians and a husband to her family in the summer of 2004, Jennifer just doesn't have the time to take custom orders any more. She is still making costumes to sell on Ebay and off of her Yahoo Groups or Website, and occassionally offers a trade deal. In 2005, Jennifer hopes to make it to her very first NAN in person with some costumes of her own. In the future, she does hope to have the time to branch out and begin making circus and other style costumes.
