Static vs. Dynamic

empty Wikipedia on web design, defines static and dynamic pages as:

Dynamic page modifications can occur either on the user-side (e.g., Javascript), or server-side (e.g., database).

Many older web sites were originally developed using static pages. Newer sites may be dynamically generated. Dynamic pages, especially database-driven sites, would be recommended for use if there is a high volume of information to be presented that has constant updates. As I’m trying to address simple web sites, I’ll be sticking to static page development in this article, with a few digressions with Javascript modifications on static pages.
