Armstrong's Jester Brat
Bay tobiano Shetland Pony stallion customized from
the Cloudside Shetland by Janet Piercy
I like to tell people he's an Attitude King! When I first saw
this Cloudside pony, I went "YUCK!" because the OF
color is so horrible. But taking a second look, I saw that
the underlying pony was really neat--all that hair and texture
is fabulous! I was sure that if nicely painted, he'd make a terrific
addition to my show string. Little did I know what a little stinker
he would turn out to look like when I was finished with him--how
can anyone not love that snotty expression? He looks like he'd
like to run up and bite you in the rumpus and run off again bucking
and kicking all the way!
Armstrong's Secret Agent
Man
Sorrel tobiano Shetland pony stallion; customized
from the North Light Shetland
I just love this North Light pony! It has a sculpted texture to
go with his classic full mane and tail--what a fuzzball! Unfortunately,
North Lights are known for ugly muzzles and "hammerhead"
eyes and this mold is exceptionally bad, so first I resculpted
the muzzle, which was easy since I've done many of them. But I'd
never worked on eyes before and was terrified I'd destroy my pony!
But I'm glad I tried it, because drilling out and replacing eyes
and the surrounding brow and lids wasn't nearly as difficult as
I imagined it would be. The results were very much worth the effort,
and now I'm not afraid to try this on any future model!
Armstrong's Aramis
Red bay blanketed Pony of the Americas stallion customized
from the Breyer Classic Andalusian stallion and owned by ?
I did this pony for the 1992 WRC auction. I had a great time resculpting
his muzzle because I particularly hate the original. It was so
nice to give him a petite "teacup" muzzle with tiny
wrinkles, flared nostrils and a perfect chin! I was also really
happy how his color and pattern came out--a very glowing red bay
with a small but noticable blanket.
Armstrong's
Twice Shy
Bay overo Connamara mixed Riding Pony customized
from the Breyer Traditional Pony of the Americas and owned by
?
This is one the very oldest of my customized models, and has the
first braided mane and tail I ever tried. I was really proud of
this little mare, who went on to be a multi-champion while I owned
her! Look at the difference between Aramis and Twice Shy! What
a difference nearly ten years makes!
