Those of you who are familiar with us [Anabel et al working on revitalizing the Julip company] will know that we have been raising funds for the Mark Davies Injured Riders Fund (MDIRF), a very worthwhile charity started by the parents of Mark Davies who was tragically killed at Burghley Horse Trials. The Charity aims through financial and any other suitable means, to assist those who have sustained an injury in an equestrian related accident where other relief is inadequate or unobtainable.
These polo players and their horses were made specially to help fundraise for the Charity, and even travelled to Cowdray Park, West Sussex where they were shown at the MDIRF Charity Celebratory Polo Day on Sunday, June 22nd 2008. We are giving 50% of the auction proceeds to the MDIRF so we are hoping that collectors old and new will appreciate why we have decided to auction rather than buy it now. The more we raise the more the Charity gets.
We calculated that it took over 150 man/woman hours to create the whole pitch with 10 fully tacked up riders and a polo pitch for them to play on.
Thanks to the following people who worked their socks off to make this happen.
Annabel, Sue, The Julip Stig, Nat, Beth, Zim, Bill, George
