Live Show Vendors

One of the things show holders can offer their showers is an opportunity to purchase items either to use in showing or further down the road.

As a show holder there are some things to think about.

First, check with your venue that vending is allowed and possible. Also that any needs such as electricity, phone and internet connections are available. And the costs associated.

Second, ensure that your layout has sufficient space for vendors and that they are well positioned.

Third, when pricing vending space, don't price yourself out of getting vendors. More than $50/day may be beyond what most (small) vendors can pay. It may not be worth having vendors if the price is higher.

Fourth, that the proper paperwork (e.g., resale licenses) is on file or made available (at the show).

Fifth, proactively contact vendors about participating at your show; don't just announce availability of vending. While some vendors may have sufficient stock on hand to participate in the show with little notice, vendors of customized pieces may need up to six months to prepare merchandise for sale. Also, knowing what your showers may want in terms of vendors will help determine which vendor(s) to contact.

Sixth, proactively work with vendors to ensure that their needs are met as well as they will be able to provide the showers with the best possible products. Vendors may also be able to provide insight and input into a lot of vending decisions.
